Ever since I read Parasite Rex (about 4 years ago), I have a great respect for Carl Zimmer. One of the things that I admire about him is that his expertise is not limited to microbiology. As a New York Times contributing author, he has written about environmental topics as well as molecular biology topics. Here is an activity designed as a companion to Zimmer’s article “Multitude of Species Face Climate Threat.” Both the article and the activity address the issue of mass extinction and whether humans may cause (or contribute to) a mass extinction in the near future.
